Brief Description: Students are challenged to look around them for Fibonacci sequence and create an art painting including this pattern.

Subject Domain(s): Mathematics: Students discuss about numeric and geometric patterns and their applications in nature. Art: Students create an art painting and discuss the aesthetic pleasure related to Fibonacci.

Age Range: 11-12, 12-13, 13-14.

Didactical Hours: 2 didactical hours.

  • Fractals: In this activity students go through different phases to discover what is a fractal and what not.
  • Symmetry: In this activity students will discover the symmetry in human body. This proportionality and symmetry is related to beauty, and at the same time with the golden ratio. In this activity students will discover the golden ratio in human body and the presence of this ratio in a lot of elements of nature such as galaxies, plants or DNA molecules.


PLATON is a two-year European project launched on September 2016.   • Promoting a holistic interdisciplinary approach;
  • Support the use of online educational tools;
  • Support the meaningful collaboration between teachers of the same school.
